1 [C] thing made to be dragged, eg a drag-net, or heavy harrow (pulled over the ground to break up the soil) 供拖、 拉之物(如拖网或重耙 ).

1 [Tn, Tn.pr, Tn.p] pull(sb/sth) along with effort and difficulty 拖, 拉, 扯, 拽(某人[某物]):
The cat was dragging its broken leg. 那只猫拖著断腿吃力地走. *
We dragged the fallen tree clear of the road. 我们把倒下的树从路上拖走. *
drag oneself along, home 拖著疲乏的身子前行、 回家. =>illus at pull 见pull之插图. =>Usage at pull2 pull2.

2 [Ipr, Ip] move slowly and with effort 缓慢而吃力地行进:
She always drags behind. 她总是在後面吃力地跟著.

用法:
3 [Tn.pr, Tn.p] (fig 比喻) persuade (sb) to come or go somewhere unwillingly 劝说(某人)勉为其难地来或去某处:
I could hardly drag the children away (from the party). 我好不容易才把孩子们(从聚会中)劝走. *
She dragged herself out of bed, still half asleep. 她挣扎著起了床, 犹自睡眼惺松.

用法:
4 [I, Ipr, Ip, Tn, Tn.pr] (cause sth to) trail on the ground (使某物)在地上拖拉:
Your coat's dragging in the mud. 你的大衣拖到泥上了. *
The ship dragged her anchor during the storm, ie The anchor did not stay in its place on the sea bottom. 船在暴风雨中拖动了锚链.

用法:
5 [I, Ip] ~ (on) (of sth boring or irritating) go on too long (指乏味或恼人的事物)进行过久:
The film dragged terribly. 电影演得拖拖拉拉. *
How much longer is this going to drag on? 这事还要拖多久?

用法:
6 [Tn] search (the bottom of a river, lake, etc) with nets, hooks, etc 拖著网、 钩等(沿河底、 湖底等)搜索, 寻觅, 打捞:
They dragged the canal for the missing child. 他们用拖网沿运河打捞失踪孩子的尸体.

用法:
7 (idm 习语) drag one's `feet/`heels be deliberately slow or ineffective 故意拖沓或怠工:
I want to sell the house, but my husband is dragging his feet, ie will not make a decision. 我想卖掉房子, 但我丈夫迟迟不作决定. drag sb/sb's name through the mire/mud bring disgrace to sb by behaving very badly 使某人蒙羞、 丢丑.

用法:
8 (phr v) drag sb down make sb feel weak or depressed 使某人感到萎顿或沮丧:
Hot weather always drags me down. 天气一热我就浑身不适. drag sb down (to sth) (infml) bring sb to a lower social level, standard of behaviour, etc 使某人社会地位、 行为标准等下降:
I'm afraid the children will all be dragged down to his level. 我看他的孩子也要跟他学坏了. drag sth in/into sth introduce (a subject which has nothing to do with what is being talked about) into the conversation 在谈话中扯进不相关的事:
Must you drag politics into everything? 你非得事事都把政治扯进来吗? drag sb into doing sth make sb take part in an activity against his will 硬拉某人参加某活动:
She had to be dragged into seeing the dentist. 要她去牙科医生那里看病非得生拉硬拽不可. drag sth out make sth longer than necessary 使某事物不必要地拖延:
Let's not drag out this discussion, we've got to reach a decision. 这场讨论别拖下去了, 我们得作个决定了. drag sth out (of sb) make sb reveal or give (information, etc) unwillingly 迫使某人透露或交代(情况等):
drag a confession, fact, concession, etc out of sb 逼某人招供、 说出事实、 作出让步等. drag sb up (Brit) raise (a child) badly and without proper care 将(孩子)胡乱带大. drag sth up introduce unnecessarily into a conversation (a fact, story, etc that is considered unpleasant) 在谈话中扯进(不愉快的事情等):
She dragged up that incident just to embarrass me. 她又扯起那件事故意想使我难堪.
