A trip to Corpus Christi, Texas, cannot be complete without a visit to the USS LEXINGTON Museum On The Bay, which is open daily, except Christmas Day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  (From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, the museum is open until 6 p.m.)

Admission charges are:
$10.00 for adults
$  8.00 for Senior Citizens (60 and above)
$  8.00 for Active/Retired Military (with proper I.D.)
$  5.00 for children ages 4 - 12.
Children under 4 are free.

Your visit  will include an experience unequaled in this part of the country - a film in a large format theater aboard a WWII aircraft carrier.  Sit immersed in a 30x44-foot screen with six channel digital surround sound in Lexington's new and exciting MEGA-Screen Theater.  Purchase a theater ticket and receive $1.00 off your general admission.  Admission/Theater package prices are:  $13.00 for adults, $11.00 for senior citizens (aged 60 and above) and active or retired military personnel with I.D.  Children aged 4-12 are $8.00 and children under 4 are $3.00.  Theater tickets can be purchased only with general admission.  USS Lexington members receive free admission and pay only $3.00 to see the theater.

Be sure and wear non-skid shoes!  The entire self-guided tour should take you anywhere between 2 and 4 hours.  Their address is:

As you enter the ship, you cannot help from feeling overwhelmed by this enormous wonder.  You begin on the hangar deck and are greeted by friendly volunteers that are there to help you with any questions you may have.  You will find these volunteers throughout the ship, some having once served on board the USS  LEXINGTON.  All tours are self-guided and the routes are well marked.  Be sure and adhere to all the Warning Signs, as there are many narrow ladders and low hanging equipment.

My uncle, Matt Masem, once served on board the LEXINGTON during World War II, and while here visiting our family in April, 1997, I (Ed Ladd) had the privilege to go with him when he visited his old "home".  He shared many memories with me, which made me appreciate the museum even more.
