这两个修饰语都可用来修饰不可数名词，但 an amount of 指量（参见词条 P.55 ）， a quantity of 则指容积、宽广和大小。
例如：
A large amount of money is spent on tobacco every year.
每年花在抽烟上的钱为数不少。
There is still quite an amount of prejudice against him. 对他仍有不少偏见。
We have a large quantity of wine in the cellar. 在酒窖里我们贮存了大量的酒。
