前者这个形容词所表达的“最后”，是指 3 个或 3 个以上人或物中的最后一个（参见词目 502 、 505 和 506 ）；如果是指两个中的后一个，就得改用后者，即等于 second 的用法。
例如：
The last Tuesday in June will be my birthday. 六月份中的最后一个星期二是我的生日。（一个月之中有 4 个星期二）
