1a. 这两个形容词都作“年轻的”或“幼年的”讲，只是后者含有“朝气”的义蕴，而前者则没有这个含义。
例如：
She is young in year, I suppose. 据我看，她还年轻。
She has a healthy, youthful attitude towards life. 她对于人生抱有一种健康而进取的态度。
比较：
She is not young in year, but sometimes she has kept her youthful figure. 她年龄已不小啦，可还保持英姿飒飒的风度。
1b. 因此，修饰与人无关的事物，多半要用前者，不用后者。
例如：
a young country 年轻的国家； young trees 幼树； young manner 举止幼稚； etc.
a youthful appearance 英俊的仪表； a youthful skin 嫩皮肤；
youthful attitude 积极的态度； etc.
